Dr. Kumar Subramanian was born and raised in Chennai, a coastal city in Southern India. He attended dental school at the University of Madras and graduated summa cum laude with a BDS. He moved with his family to the United States in 2001, and underwent post-graduate training at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio; receiving a Certificate in Endodontics and Master’s Degree in Dentistry. He was also awarded a Fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
During his time at Case, he was honored to receive a research award from the American Association of Endodontists, for outstanding research by an Endodontic resident. He was also funded by the American Association of Endodontists Foundation to examine novel and unknown bacteria that are responsible for failing root canals.
He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He attends and oversees the trauma clinics at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
His research interests are examining previously unknown bacteria that infect failing root canals, and understanding immune reactions following traumatic injuries to teeth. He is an active member of the AAE and OAE.
Dr. Subramanian lives with his wife, a professor of Periodontology at The Ohio State University, and their twin daughters in Upper Arlington, Ohio. They enjoy white water rafting, travelling or pulling up weeds in the yard over summer and reading. Dr. Subramanian is also an avid football and basketball fan. Go Bucks.
Michell Randlett, Certified Dental Assistant
Michell is a certified dental assistant and a resident of the South-Eastern side of Columbus. She graduated from the Ohio Institute of Health Careers with a certificate in Dental Assisting. She continued with her education by completing an externship and acquiring her Dental Radiology License. Michell initially started at a general dental office assisting in various dental procedures. She joined the practice as an endodontic assistant in 2008 and has become the primary assistant to Dr. Subramanian. She has the natural ability to make our patients feel comfortable and ease their anxiety. She is a great motivator and is excited to be a part of our team in an office whose motto is to provide quality care and thorough professionalism.
Sarah Simkin, Patient Relations Co-ordinator/Financial Co-ordinator
Sarah has more than 4 years of experience in patient relations and administration and is a native of Columbus. Sarah attended The South-Western Career Academy receiving an award for the VICA Skills Demonstration Speech and graduated in 2004 with perfect attendance. She strives to make the patients visits to our practice smooth and pleasant every time they walk in the door. Sarah enjoys working with our team and finds the experience stress-free and rewarding. She is always available to help our patients with their billing or insurance questions.
